 Ambon Manise “

Maluku (the Moluccas) as an archipelago is one of the 32 provinces of Indonesia.

-         The province of Maluku consist of seven district and one city. The even district are central Maluku, Masohi is its capital the south east Maluku, Tual is its capital the west-south-east Maluku, saumlaki is its caital Buru, Namlea is its  capital the west part of Seram, Piru is its capital thr east part of seram, Bula is its capital Aru, Dobo is its capiatl and Ambon City with Ambon as its capital.

-         Today Maluku is again attarcting world attention, not for spices, but for tourism. Maluku has variety of tourist attractions, especially the Exotic Marine Paradise, enriched by the fanous Spice Islands history, the nice peope and the beautiful untouched natural environments.

Ambon Island,

 The island of Ambon lies on the South of Seram island, covers an area of apporoxmately 761km. The island is shaped like two horseshoes cligling together, creating two penisulas tied by a small passage only one mile wide between the Ambon and Baguala bays.
 The north-western Leihitu penisula, is larger than the South-Western Leitimor penisula, although most of population reside on the latter. From its rugged montains to its varied coastline, yhe island of Ambon offers many scenic, historical and cultural attractions for the visitor.



          Explore the many beautiful beaches, sea, gerdens ( there are 33 selected dive spots), clove and nutmeg plants. Visit Ambons’s historic
fortresses, museums, mousques, ans churches, or watch the local festivals, music and dances, and taste Ambons’s local cuisine. Wherever you go, you will meet friendly, interesting people.
          According to the 2000 census, the island of Ambon’s populations was 301.746 people, 75 % live in the urban area of the city of Ambon, while the rest people live in the villages/rural areas.





The City of Ambon

     Ambon city is the capital of Maluku provinces. Since the hey-day of the spice trade, it has been transformed into a busting hub and the center of trade, education and administrasion.
          The city of Ambon was found between the late 1500s and early 1600s, when the Nossa Seinhora da Annunciada fort was erected by the Portuguese conquistadors. The Dutch took over in 1602 and named this fort Kasteel Victoria. Later, it was rebuilt enlarged and renamed as Kasteel Nieuw Victoria. The people still call it, Fort Victoria.

          Because the fort provided a safe place to live and work, new settlement of local people enlarged until today Kota Ambon, known since long time ago, as ‘’Ambon Manis-e’’, ‘’Beautiful Ambon.
          ‘’AMBON MANISE’’ refers not only to the beauty of the city itself but also to the beauty of the island that represents the whole maluku archipelago. Ambon municipally covers an area of 377km along the Ambon bay, and the Baguala bay. The city’s populations of more than 206 thousands people consist of different races from all over the Maluku archipelago as well as from other part of Indonesia.
